About the Role

Ledgent Finance & Accounting is partnering with a growing company seeking a skilled Payroll Accountant to join their team on a temp-to-hire basis. This position is ideal for someone with strong payroll processing experience, solid accounting knowledge, and confidence working in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process multi-state payroll accurately and on schedule
  • Review and reconcile payroll data for completeness and accuracy
  • Prepare and record payroll journal entries
  • Handle payroll tax filings, reporting, and compliance
  • Maintain payroll general ledger accounts and support month-end close
  • Assist with audits, wage verifications, and year-end reconciliations
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and provide employee support
  • Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and Finance teams
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to internal controls

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of payroll accounting or payroll processing experience
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, compliance, and multi-state regulations
  • Experience with payroll systems (Paylocity, ADP, Paycom, Workday, etc.)
  • Solid accounting knowledge and experience with G/L and journal entries
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service mindset
